Welcome to Data Sciences and Knowledge Discovery Laboratory
The Smart Lab originated from the E-Intelligence Group, directed by Prof. Chengqi Zhang in the Smart e-Business Lab of the Faculty of Information Technologyin 2001. Since then, the group has focused on data mining and agent technology. In 2007, the E-Intelligence Group was upgraded to the Knowledge Discovery Lab of the UTS Research Centre for Intelligent Information Systems, directed by Prof. Longbing Cao. In April 2008, the Knowledge Discovery Lab was renamed as the Data Sciences and Knowledge Discovery Research Lab(the Smart Lab) after the UTS Council approved the Flagship (Tier-One) Centre of CIIS, now named UTS Centre for Quantum Computation and Intelligent Systems(QCIS). Now the lab is directed by Prof. Xingquan Zhu.
The Data Sciences and Knowledge Discovery Research Lab(the Smart Lab) aims to foster both theoretical and practical innovation in areas of machine learning, data mining and knowledge discovery, data sciences, behaviour informatics, and agent-mining interaction & integration. We also commit to real-world business problems and deliverables by scrutinising data agility, discovering actionable knowledge, and disclosing business intelligence for smart business decisions.
